About Mark Henwick

I was born in Africa and left out in the sun too often. An early interest in philosophy and psychology was adequately exorcised by tending bars. And while trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing. When not working, I get high by the slightly less conventional means of a small light aircraft. My first book, 'Sleight of Hand' is available on Amazon at http://amzn.to/Sa0D3n

    Hi Mark

I hope all is well with you, I will survive without my fix this week. I’m, however, looking forward to reading that bite back novel when it comes out.

    Be well.

I like Zara, but I can wait for her book if I must.

Amber, well I want both quality and quantity of that series….

But I have said this before.

    • Mark Henwick says :

      Thanks Michael.

Still trying to get both of them at the same time. Zara has edged ahead.

I am well aware that the story which is ready at the end of your fingertips to pour into the keyboard is the right one for that moment.

Trying to force out a story which isn’t ripe will result in lower overall quality.

There are authors with a lot to say, and some of that is not worth saying. I have only awarded a one star rating on Amazon once. This was to a tale set in a world with an interesting background concept, but the author was only interested in the sexual encounters between the characters. A waste of a world, and of my money.

I also want to know if I have guessed right as to where Amber and her house will end up. I suspect she will end up as a Wolf shaman, along with a shaman of each of the others “tribes”, but she will be the weakest of them, just completing the set as it were. I think it is obvious who will be the most powerful of the shamen.

But the story has a long way to go before we can reach that balance point.

I could probably write an erotic book, I’m not sure I could keep it up for a whole series.

          And I love reader’s predictions!

          • Michael Orton says :

I suspect any competent author could write one erotic book, in the opinion of that author.

Readers might or might not agreed, such things are very personal in taste. So personal in fact that I suggest writing that sort of thing by implication has to be the best approach. That way people fill in the blanks with what they want to happen and the author doesn’t have to guess what the reader thinks the author wrote.

The perfect erotic book leaves the reader wondering how the author guessed exactly what said reader finds most stimulating, without noticing that every reader is equally arroused despite few people sharing the same taste in details.

I have no idea if such a book could be written, and if it could be, would it automatically be banned as obscene?
