Bian’s Tale – Revenge – third part

Here is the fifteenth episode of Bian’s Tale; the third part of Section 6 – ‘Revenge’.

If you’re just arriving here, and haven’t read from the start of this serial, here’s a link to the beginning: https://henwick.wordpress.com/2017/11/17/bians-tale-innocence/ and each episode has a ‘next post’ to take you to the next episode.

The story will stay up for a week or two after I complete it, and then, shortly after that, the final version with edits and amendments will be released on Amazon.

Again, I progressed a bit slowly this week, some of which is down to some marketing I’ve been doing for A Name Among the Stars.

If you enjoy my posts, please LIKE the Bite Back page and/or FOLLOW it.  Alternatively FRIEND or FOLLOW me on my personal page, where I copy the Bite Back posts, but add it a bunch of posts not related to writing.

I will be starting a Group at the end of next week.

Feedback always valued, folks. 🙂

About Mark Henwick

I was born in Africa and left out in the sun too often. An early interest in philosophy and psychology was adequately exorcised by tending bars. And while trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing. When not working, I get high by the slightly less conventional means of a small light aircraft. My first book, 'Sleight of Hand' is available on Amazon at http://amzn.to/Sa0D3n

I think I know who is missing and their last known location. 🙂 Mental disconnect, I always pictured Bian looking around 19/20 ish. good start to earning her reputation as Diakon-to-be.

This is set a long time ago, Bain may well look 19/20 ish in the main Bite Back series.

Bian is 14-15 at this point, though she’d look a bit older than that, especially to Western eyes.

Athanate, whatever their age when infused, have the ability to age (or get younger) to a point that they’re happy with and stop. For most, that is late 20s – early 30s. Bian’s age in Bite Back is difficult for Amber to guess. When she first sees her, Amber thinks she might be anything from 16-20, so 19-20 would be a reasonable estimate.

Kin tend to look about 30.

Some much older Athanate deliberately decide to appear older, to give them an air of authority. Most senior Houses do this to a greater or lesser extent. It is not permanent. Adepts can do it too if their lives are extended by being Athanate kin. Adept Emerson deliberately appears old – and so she should, she arrived with the Mayflower!

The only thing wrong with it is that it stopped. Looking forward to buying it so I can read it all.

    Mark,
This serial stuff is great. But you’re killing me! Sigh. Keep up the fantastic writing. I start tontell the wife about Bian and she puts her fingers in her ears an sings, La la la la at almost the top of her lungs. We both are waiting for BB#6 and Bian’s Tale. 😛

    • Mark Henwick says :

Thank you Randy! Please tell your wife it’s not too long now.

I won’t be putting BB6 up on the blog (other than the odd teaser), but I’m definitely going to continue with serials on Wattpad.
