Bian’s Tale – Darkness Falls – last part

Here is the twelfth episode of Bian’s Tale; the fifth part of Section 5 – ‘Darkness Falls’.

Short and, I regret, ending on a cliffhanger. Mwah hahaha.

If you’re just arriving here, and haven’t read from the start of this serial, here’s a link to the beginning:

Business stuff:

Please do read my other post on the Bite Back facebook page. Facebook is changing to ensure that the only ‘business’ posts (which would include posts from the Bite Back page) that you see in your feed are going to be paid-for advertising. I am not going to pay Facebook every time I post something, so you may miss out on posts in the future.

You may want to consider some steps to mitigate this:

(1) ‘LIKE’ the Bite Back page anyway

(2) ‘FOLLOW’ my personal page, because I generally copy Bite Back posts there

(3) If you haven’t already, message me your email address to be added to my book alert list. I only use this list for new book announcements.

What will I be doing differently?

I *may* start a newsletter, probably with other authors, if there’s an interest.

I will be moving any new serials to Wattpad.

Feedback folks. 🙂 On the changes and on the story…

This episode from Bian’s Tale 1 – The Harvest of Lies has been removed.
The book will be available shortly on Amazon.

About Mark Henwick

I was born in Africa and left out in the sun too often. An early interest in philosophy and psychology was adequately exorcised by tending bars. And while trying to enroll in a class to read Science Fiction full time, I ended up taking an engineering degree which splendidly qualified me to move into marketing. That in turn spawned a late onset career in creative writing. When not working, I get high by the slightly less conventional means of a small light aircraft. My first book, 'Sleight of Hand' is available on Amazon at

I’m only on Facebook because some of my friends insist on using its crappy messenger. You absolutely shouldn’t pay them for every post. A newsletter sounds like an excellent idea.

You do love your cliffhangers. This one has no bite, she survives hundreds of years into the future. The only thing I’m wondering is if she kills them, maims them or just leaves them penniless and destitute.

There is that problem about writing a prequel! As to what happens to the Fontaudins…. that is, of course, key.

I’d never have enough spare capacity to write my own newsletter, but if there were a half dozen Urban Fantasy authors of like mind, I’m betting we could manage something once a quarter.

I support your decision to not pay FB for ever post. News letter sounds good, but I check your page once a week anyway. We feel your agony for leaving us with the cliffhanger 🙂

The newsletter isn’t a priority at the moment, but I’ll keep thinking about what it would entail and who else might take part.

Bian’s Tale was never meant for serialisation, so the cliffhangers are mild. The next adventure in the ANATS universe will be written deliberately for serial release…

Hi Mark, I started off reading Bian’s Tale then got out of step due to work commitments. I can’t remember where I got to, and I would have to hunt through my server to find the other posts. I was really enjoying it (probably about half way through the material you’ve posted), but I’m of a mind to leave it be just now and simply get the book when you publish.
Any idea when that might be???

Hi Deborah, part of my frustration with WordPress for serials is that navigation isn’t easy. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the cookies that these sites collect for us also enabled a bookmarker? But hey ho.

Anyway… I *have* to finish this draft of the book this month. I’m not sure yet when my editor will be available (she’s writing penname romances and quite busy). I don’t think there are going to be any (more) re-writes. I need to sort out a cover and blurb and some advertising…

I am guessing mid->late February for the release.

        That’s great news, I shall be waiting…
And I do share your frustration with WordPress, but hey, its free unless you want something with more bells and whistles than I do.
